The 'cubby holes' those air handlers sit in are just deep enough for the original unit and the replacement units made today simply will NOT fit. Thats life I guess. I just had the privilege (?) of working on a Magic Chef unit today. I found 2 problems, someone had re-wired the fan so that it never shuts off and the other was a Heat Anticipator setting that was way out of adjustment. The heat anticipator on the Honeywell round stat was set at.1 amps, the unit pulled just a hair under.7 amps during a heat call, I was getting a series of burns approx 20-30 seconds long. Meanwhile the fan motor had been replaced.

Two of the motors leads were hooked up to the fan relay red to n/c contact and blue to n/o contact. The Fan relay though only appears to come into play during ac operations. I forgot to tell ya, the whole reason I am writing this is because I have no schematic and need one badly to correct the wiring errors in this unit.
