Install Xbmc On Dune Hd Player

Blu-ray & HD DVD Gaming & Content Streaming. Video Components. Home Entertainment & Theater Builder. Media Servers & Content Streaming > Is XBMC ever going to come to Dune players?? I don't think you can install XBMC on the Xbox 360. I would love to be wrong though. Can I use/install Xbmc on Dune HD 101 streamer? Dune players use Sigma Designs chips and although Sigma has/had a port of XBMC in.

Honestly the more I think about it, the more it seems like a dumb idea, XBMC is bloated as hell. XBMC runs fine on my Mac Minis, an old ATV1 with CHD and as you noted on an inexpensive netted. There's no shortage of system that it can run on. Plex runs on iPods, LG and Samsung TV's, Macs.

I must agree with you regarding OpenElec. The latest version is very fast and compact. I don't quite see the point of buying an expensive Dune, PCH. Just to run XBMC.

You wouldn't notice it running on a PC but on an Arm box the difference has been amazing. Most people don't want HTPC's which are a niche item and will remain so, having to install software, use remote's not designed for XBMC, lacking the ability to turn on/off the device with a remote and so on.

Network media players that run XBMC are not too far off (MIPS or Arm) and I'm certain will become the dominant XBMC platforms very quickly. Lastly Xbox 360 does not run XBMC (not sure how that info that it does still gets passed around), the XBMC developers have basically said never going to happen. Also the original Xbox is no longer supported by modern XBMC so the only versions for the Xbox are old builds. The remote that comes with a Mac Mini works out of the box with XBMC. Couple that with Remote Buddy and you have a very powerful system. Media players are not without their problems. Most are just Linux htpc's in disguise.
