Rotor gene software I'm having the same problem and i know the CD is not defective. But it is an corporate install version. And i'm wondering if that's the problem. I'll try a standard professional xp CD and see if that makes a difference.

Every minute or 2, had to cancel it each appearance 3 times to clear it,wearlier today. Now I cannot get beyond the signup names. When I click on a name, it then signs me off!(repeatedly) Can anyone help? How do I force classic view for EVERYONE? I can do PER user but I need to do this for every new profile by default (no GPO, no bat files). Does anyone have experience in using the XP Back-up wizard vs.

A third party software utility like Powerquest Drive Image? I want to create a complete duplicate image of a hard-drive partition (my system partition) in order to restore everything in the event of a crash. I want to put the image on a network drive. The XP wizard looks like it may do this. I know the third party programs try to do this with varying degrees of reported success. Any input is appreciated. I'm trying to make a complete XP install CD, with automatic apply of SP1 and hotfixes.

Most of it is ok now, but some MS updates like ex. MDAC 2.8, Microsoft.NET Framework dotnetfx.exe. Both examples suffers from the usual use of parameters: -z -m -q, which says: don't restart, unattended mod, and quiet operation. Does anyone nows the right parameters to these other kinds of updates, so they also could be installed silently and unattended?

I have an OEM version of XP Pro w/SP2 and was attempting a clean install on my PC. I successfully repartitioned and reformatted the HD but got an error during set up: SXS.dll: Syntax error in manifest or policy file 'E: I386 asms 10 POLICY MSFT WINDOWS GDIPLUS GDIPLUS.CA_' on line 0. Error: install failed E: I386 asms error msg: Manifest Parse Error: An invalid character was found in text string.

I clicked 'Enter/OK' and it restarted. I didn't boot it up again from the CD (i figured that windows was now on my HD). It restarted set up and has been stuck for over an hour on a screen that shows progress (Preparing Installation: 39 minutes left). Doesn't respond to any keystrokes (Esc, Del, Enter) HELP!!!
