Found this on Craigslist for $250 what am i getting into? This will be my first E drum set on a budget.Hellfire has a bit about it on his web site: It seems to be a modified Medeli. Otherwise known here as junk. You would be getting it very cheap. So, expect cheap sounds, and cheap build quality - ie, you might not be able to stand the sounds, and the thing might break after a little pounding (if it isnt already beaten up, which might be why it is on craig's.), My advice: Save your money, cut back on some luxuries - like food -, drum into a pillow, and save up for a proper kit, like a Roland, or a Yamaha, or even the newer Simmons or Alesis. Do a search around this site for Medeli and you will see that is pretty much what others think as well.

Found this on Craigslist for $250 what am i getting into? This will be my first E drum set on a budget. If you keep into context the price you are paying for the kit, it's not bad.

It does have a USB port on it, so if you ever wanted to go the VST route it should be fairly painless. Also, Brand new you are looking at $350. It all comes down to how beat up the used kit is. If the entry level market is were you are looking. You might want to also look at the (which uses the same module as the SMI-1458, but I believe the sound set is different) or the.

The Simmons SD7PK will be the pricier one of the entry level kits, but still worth it considering price. Above all, try them before you buy them. You might want to go to a music shop that has some edrum kits set up. I know Guitar Center (if you have one somewhat close) tend to have the Simmons, Yamaha, and Roland stuff set-up to try. They might have the Alesis DM6 as well. I haven't be in my Guitar Center lately.
